ADDRESSED DURING BBA TO SHUTI BROTHERS AND SISTERS ALL OVER AFRICA
…in memory of a beautiful dream that ended abruptly!…
Last week (in 2010), after a long while, i took a trip to abeokuta,ibadan,ife,akure to ado-ekiti…on my way back i went through akure,ondo,ore,ijebu-ode back to lagos…it was an unforgetable trip…for the four days i had three bags…one for my clothes,one for my shoes and toiletries and the third contained almost 30 files i was going to work on between wednesday and saturday…to study and analyse data captured by other people,do a bounded write-up and make a presentation…
…in addition to this i also decided to see two professors of theatre arts at U.I about scripting a story i had written for a movie to be called…okay i will not let the cat out of the bag yet…one of the professors actually retired from ife and was the main man for SAWOROIDE by mainframe of tunde kelani…at least i had once hinted shutians that i have interests to some extent in nollywood …ngeee?…inside of me i am an arts man…but i am coated with financial and management science!!!!…its actually my inner self that comes to shutiville while my external person of course is what people see in the office…but my wife of course knows at very close quarters the two persons in one!!! …
….but back to my trip…my first port of call was abeokuta then to ibadan through the old road…there i saw why the yoruba nation like a bird decided to fly out of PDP cage to sing…once u leave lagos and u go through ogun state the stark realities called differentials start hitting your eyes and brain…definitely abeokuta does not look like a state capital…its more like a disgrace vis-a-vis all the noise made by gbenga daniel over 8 years!!!…
…but then ibadan is almost worse!…then move to ife and it will be obvious to u why ogun,oyo and osun could not have remained in PDP hands…same for ekiti….in contrast akure and ondo were experiencing real changes which u notice immediately u get to the borders of ondo state…that man called iroko is another fashola in ondo…no matter the name of his party in ondo the people will stay with him…his birds are a happy lot!!!…
…to be continued tomorrow including how i took a full plate of amala and many pieces of goat meat at U.I staff club….for N280 only!!!…really incredible to me as a lagosian…!!…si ya
